So if you lived in a society where you had to secure your communication in order to be yourself around others, here are the apps that could help you do that.
Signal let’s you securely text and make phone calls.
Onion Browser allows you to surf the web without leaving a trail.
Duck Duck Go isn’t super secure but it won’t record your searches like Google.
ProtonMail is a email client that lets you email other secure email accounts.
Periscope allows you to stream live video.
Semaphor is there so you can securely make group chat rooms.
American privacy laws allow you to use these all. So that’s pretty cool.
Because we’re currently living in the prologue of a cyberpunk dystopian novel, imma reblog this.
This is actually not completely true, and this person, while they mean well, is misinformed. Honey bees have actually been bouncing back from colony collapse disorder. However it’s not honey bees that we need to worry about.
Honey bees are a domesticated, invasive species that actually spread diseases to and take resources from wild bee populations, such as bumblebees and carpenter bees, all so we can have their honey. THESE are the bees you need to worry about, since they are the ones that actually do most of the pollinating; it turns out that honey bees actually do only a small amount of pollination compared to their solitary, non-honey producing counterparts.
Wild bees are the ones that are dying en masse, partially due to pesticides and the like, but also, yes, because of the honey industry. But, nobody cares about them because they don’t make honey, so the honey industry is going to lie to you and tell you to support their businesses so you can “save the bees” 🤷♀️
If you care about bees, in addition to buying organic whenever possible, planting native flowers, and getting local lawmakers to stop using harmful pesticides, stop buying honey. The only thing that buying honey does is line the pockets of beekeepers (and no, “buying local honey” does not help either).
Okay I’m going to be serious,, there is an upcoming law in Europe called Article 13 copyright and it could destroy our media as we in Europe know. If the laws pass, we won’t be able to share memes, leave our opinions, livestream, share links, remix, blog, discuss or have contact with outside Europe. This is a serious matter. We need to stop this and please, if you can sign a petition at saveyourinternet.eu, because we need this
